Blank Canvases

We've asked each other so many times - "Where can we find a blank canvas to work our ideas on????" In a short writeup of one of favourite magazines - Home & Gardens - it says "If you're lucky enough to have a disused outbuilding, why not create a fantastic space for entertaining? All you need are some simple long tables and chairs and some classic candelabras."

Exactly! On a blank canvas, it be a warehouse, or an unused factory, all you need are amazing table settings, flowers and chairs to create a stunning event. It can be so simple.

Beautiful Aesthetics

It's been awhile since we posted but inspiration was lacking until we chanced upon this gorgeous cafe posted here. We love that for something as simple as coffee, so much attention is paid to aesthetics - the checkered floor, colour palette and lighting, it's perfect. Kudos to the people behind it!

As The Party Kicked In...

Our guests got into the mood - but what in the world are the guys looking at?

The mood was certainly jolly when everyone had a glass of wine in hand.

The flowers and table setting were gorgeous - I spy a Little Creatures beer bottle!

Last burger standing...

The food was great and the guests were so delighted!

There was even singing...

and some dancing.

More dancing!!! - this was a real shocker for J. Thanks so much guys!

There was definitely lots of love and jolliness in the air...

...big grins all round :)

When We Say, "I Do!"

Thanks to our good friend Jolene, here's a preview of the event whilst Tsen (our official photographer) puts our photos together in a pretty little album.

It was the funniest solemnization ever! Our nerves got the better of us and we were hardly listening to the Justice of Peace - replying with all our "I Dos" and "I Wills" before the JP could even complete his sentence. It was hilarious! Great thing was, the comic timing was perfect (totally unplanned) and our guests enjoyed themselves thoroughly.

Only a Solemnization

Some friends think we are completely over the top with the details we've added to our soleminization!
Comments include:
"Wah you think you're Fann Wong and Christopher Lee ah??"
"You need paparazzi or not??"
"You think you're holding a concert ah?"
"Some more got after party!!"
We know it's ONLY a solemnization but we're getting married! And when's a better excuse to hold a great party just for yourself other than your big day - *big smiles*. Moreover we've got guests coming from Zurich, Wales and Hong Kong (and CHINA), we've gotta make it worth their while!
When we started planning for this day, our objective was for everyone - young and old, friends and family, to enjoy themselves.
But this is just a start, we've already starting thinking about our colour scheme for the biggie Chinese dinner in 2011!

3 Days to Go!

We have only three days to go to our big day, and it's a full week of celebrations!

On Wed, we have an intimate dinner with close friends and our mums (we really want to take this opportunity to thank all those who have helped us along the way), on Fri we have the setup (and a girlie little get together), Sat's the BIG day, and Sun we're runnning away to Bali (with our friends and some family!).

It's a week of festivities and we're so excited!

Peaches and Cream ain't the easiest dresscode - or so our guests have very vocally informed us! :) Here are some ideas for the girls. Unfortunately all stores are carrying the AW09 collections right now, which are darker. But do not despair,your trusty brands, Club Monaco, All Dressed Up, Zara, and even Topshop are now stocking this colour palette!

The Museum is...

It is rather obscure - it does not even have a website! J chanced upon it when we were aggressively searching for a venue that satisfied all our needs:

Simple (preferably a blank canvas)
Interesting
Flexible
No package restrictions

It was impossible to obtain more research on it so we decided to suss it out one Sunday afternoon. After several failed attempts with other venues, we were quite the skeptical couple. But lo and behold, it was everything we were looking for. We like how it is tucked behind a dessert cafe, its presence completely oblivious to the artsy students and busy traffic outdoors.
To us it was a hidden gem filled with artwork of the quirky types - traditionally Chinese fine art but peppered with modern innuendo.
To top it off, the owner was extremely friendly and personable. We were sold on the venue.

Be Our Guest!

"Finally!" Yes that was the response most expressed - much to our amusement - when we told them we were were getting hitched. "About time" was another.

Thus began the planning, starting with the invites.

We gathered the best people we knew to help out - our very good friend Cindy took the super cute photos of us at Rockstar, a store generously loaned to us - thanks to another great friend, Sharon. And there's Ella our young quirky designer who manages all our creatives - from invites to placecards - she made sure, along with our trusty printer, that the paper, lamination and colour came out perfect.
